Huge sword found down man’s trouser leg as police carry out search

A huge sword was found as cops searched a man found in possession of drugs.

A 30-year-old was arrested in the Newport area of Middlesbrough at around 12.40pm on Wednesday.

He was stopped on Peel Street and found to be in possession of suspected class A and class C drugs.

The sword was located in his trouser leg, following a search by officers.

The man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and C drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue, police said.
